FBI requests Laundrie’s DNA for matching

In a statement released by the family’s lawyer, Steven Bertolino, Roberta and Christopher Laundrie said “speculation” they assisted their son in any way to leave the family home or avoid arrest was “just wrong”.“They are concerned about Brian and hope the FBI can locate him.

“The FBI requested some personal items belonging to Brian Laundrie to assist them with DNA matching and Brian’s parents provided the FBI with what they could,” the Laundries’ lawyer, Steven Bertolino said to multiple news outlets. Laundrie was reported missing on September 17 – weeks after returning to Florida alone without his fiancee Gabby Petito. Petito’s remains were found last Sunday, an autopsy has given her cause of death as homicide but it has not been revealed what caused her death.
