England have named a 12-man squad for the first Ashes Test! But there's a big question mark over who will miss out LATEST:

England has announced a 12-man squad for the First Ashes Test to begin at the Gabba on Wednesday - and could even name a five-pronged pace attack to take on the green wicket.

With Anderson already ruled out, England are tossing up forcing fellow veteran Broad to wait for his 150th Test cap. ENGLAND SQUAD: Joe Root , Stuart Broad, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler , Haseeb Hameed, Jack Leach, Dawid Malan, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood. England will be without veteran seamer Jimmy Anderson and Australia’s bowlers are playing their first red-ball games since April but Healy said bowling first, with rain and storms also predicted, could be the go.“It goes against a lot in our cricket mythology.Healy said day two could be just as difficult so batting second could help.

“All pitches are prepared pretty similar, and it comes down to the weather on the day or in the lead-up to how it is.“The wicket has a good coverage of grass that will hopefully aid in producing a traditional Gabba pitch, as long as the weather plays its part.”
