Police have declared an emergency situation at Peregian, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, urging locals to self evacuate as a fast-moving bushfire races through bushland near the beachside community.Multiple fire crews and police are at the sceneAuthorities have warned that conditions may worsen, asking residents in Lorikeet Drive to Greenshank Drive to leave their homes.
The fire is expected to impact Pitta Street, Stint Street, Petrel Street, Greenshank Street, Lorikeet Drive and Oriole Avenue. Roads are closed at Woodlands Boulevard to Stumers Creek Road including David Low Way in both directions. The fire, spanning about 100 metres, is currently burning in inaccessible bushland near Emu Mountain Road, north of Coolum State High School, and is heading north toward David Low Way.
