“It’s all been a bit lost in translation from some people who are not here and don’t really know the full view. Peng’s well-being became a matter of concern among the global tennis community in November when she appeared to allege that a former Chinese vice premier, Zhang Gaoli, had sexually assaulted her during a years-long on-off relationship.

The Women’s Tennis Association has continued to call for a thorough and transparent investigation into Peng’s allegations and suspended all tournaments in China over her safety.Credit:Things came to a head at the Australian Open on Friday when protestors unfurled a banner reading ‘Where Is Peng Shuai’ during the match between China’s Wang Qiang and American Madison Keys and one of the protesters also wore a T-shirt with the same slogan supporting Peng.
