Emergency services were called to the corner of Westall and Centre roads in Springvale about 9pm on Wednesday to reports of up to eight vehicles involved in a collision.
Police said the car was then believed to have turned around and struck another vehicle as the pole fell onto the road and resulted in several other collisions.
