Doctors cut child dose interval to three weeks amid back to school anxiety | marywardy

Sydney doctors are giving children coronavirus vaccines three weeks apart so students are double-dosed for the start of school with the Premier acknowledging some parents and teachers are anxious about returning to the classroom.

“We are coming to the beginning of the school term and it makes sense for me to try to get as many children vaccinated as possible.” When asked earlier this month if the high case numbers warranted an “outbreak response”, NSW chief paediatrician Dr Matthew O’Meara said the state would be keeping its dose interval at eight weeks.NSW chair of the Royal Australian College of GPs Charlotte Hespe said, while doctors could make their own decisions within the approved range, the position of the college was to follow NSW Health’s dose schedule, informed by ATAGI, and this was what most GPs had done.

As teachers and parents await the announcement of how children will be returned to in-person learning next week, Premier Dominic Perrottet acknowledged some were “anxious” about the process but said a plan would be released “in the coming days”.

marywardy Why would you vaccinate young children against a virus that causes little or no illness in young children? Every procedure carries a risk, but why would you impose that risk on your child for so doubtful a benefit as vaccination confers on young children? hysteria panic

TBH I would be sketchy on a current principle teaching let alone a retired one. JordsBaker Rabe9 It’s the backup plan to save Dom’s bacon. It’ll be little more than structured child-care. JordsBaker Rabe9 That's great, I really need my kids at school. With so many I'd be forced to do some house work 🤢.
