, Djokovic is granted a temporary activity visa. Temporary activity visas enable people to work in Australia on a short-term basis, and subclass 408 covers sporting activities., Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt writes to Tennis Australia chief executive Craig Tiley, saying players wishing to enter Australia quarantine-free must be fully vaccinated and cannot count a previous infection as a reason for exemption.
, Djokovic takes part in a media interview despite having received a positive result on the PCR test., Djokovic receives a letter from the Chief Medical Officer of Tennis Australia stating he has been granted a "medical exemption from COVID vaccination" on the grounds that he had recently recovered from COVID-19.
Later that day, his lawyers file a challenge against the cancellation of his visa. An injunction is granted to allow Djokovic to remain in the country until January 10, the same day a hearing is scheduled in the Federal Circuit Court., the court finds Djokovic's visa was unreasonably cancelled and orders his release from detention. After his release, the tennis star publicly states his intention to stay in the country and compete at the Australian Open.
I'm wondering why is this a top story, and not the catastrophe in Tonga and Morrison's complete silence over it. He found time to praise the federal court for booting Novak, but not to make a statement about Tonga.
Your news feed is crap, pick up your game.
I am wondering how much he costs Australian tax payer with legal bills
What motive is behind for choosing a hard way forward?
So Australia invites Novak to the Australian open knowing his vaccination stance and now has removed his visa on character grounds because he may be a bad influence on others intending to vaccinate when he has positively inspired million of people with his tennis? Discrimination!
Funny the government didn't go for the 'lied on his application' route, and instead went with 'he promotes anti-vaxxer sentiment' route....given how many government MPs are also pushing anti-vaxxer sentiments.
Dont care
Any chance Djokovic's layers will work for those refugees held in detention for the past nine years or so? Surely it's not just a question of money 😄
Alex Hawke. Finally (almost) the centre of attention. Shame it’s in a bad way.
Interesting that the AO tennis medical team have to take information supplied for medical waiver from vaccination as factual 😂 who’s to question if information supplied is a load of lies ! Whole AO setup a joke
Somehow Novak’s legal team managed to get 3 Chief Justices out of bed on a Sunday morning, this could end up being very embarrassing for the government with all their “strong borders” propaganda.
Hawke should resign now. We all know this is a government plan to allow him to stay. Why they created such a flimsy challenge when there was so much more. Strong borders 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really think they will just drag this out now until he can’t play and the competition has begun without him. It’s a tactic they’ve used in relation to visas with others. Lose in court and then find another way to do what they intend anyway until the last possible moment.
JUST POLITICAL PM said rules r rules so he wanted to make an example of Djokovic Hillsong youths had a rave party with 300 against health order yet the cops r reluctant to charge them Selective rule
Oh dear, what will the Government do then to distract us from the growing number of deaths from CoVID, and their appalling performance managing the pandemic?
Government decisions made so they can blame anyone else. Seems to be the way politics works in Australia. Rarely about Australia, fairness or justice. Just about votes.
I hope it's Judge Judy who presides over this case.
A game set and unequal match between the calmest, highest legal authority and logical case, versus a testosterone-fuelled athlete. No contest. Result, logic 40, athlete luv.
Whether he can play or not, he's already the most unpopular man in Australia.
Waiting until Friday afternoon to render this decision was a dogact and typical of this government .
So if I need a court to hear my case on a Sunday I’ll get told to go home. But this prick gets what he demands. He LIED so kick him out FFS🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
don't care, don't know who it is, looks like sport.
I’m so embarrassed by our country these days
He'll win this and play in the Australian Open. It's pretty much already decided. I wonder if refugees will get instant court hearings now?
Such a cry baby.
Send him home!
How does this person get Court to sit on Saturday and Sunday? One rule for the rich....
No ooo vak Morrison and medical exemption and money and barrister and judge 🥇🥇🏸🏸🦠🦠💰💰💰🇦🇺🇦🇺⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️
