Diamond Princess owner won't offer refunds for cruise cancellations

The cruise industry has come under intense pressure globally after the giant Diamond Princess vessel became synonymous with the spread of the coronavirus. Six people died and more than 800 people fell sick on Diamond Princess and it spent two weeks quarantined off Yokohama.

After watching what happened to the Diamond Princess, Maryann Phillips, from Sydney, this week cancelled her Royal Caribbean Singapore cruise to Thailand. “I think it’s very unfair. When you book these things you’re not anticipating you’re going to be cancelling,” she said.to Vanuatu after three staff members on board were diagnosed with influenza.

“We have done a lot of cruising, and we’re very cautious, careful and sensible. But there are a lot of people on there that are not,” said Ms Phillips.
