Diabetic passenger sues Qantas for failing to pack his insulin

Eighty-year-old Perth man Robert Rowan, who had been living in the US for decades, was flying to Australia to visit his brother and sister in May 2018.

Mr Woollacott, Slater and Gordon’s principal lawyer, alleged a Qantas staff member told the then 78-year-old they would take his medication and ensure it went on the plane.But Qantas claimed the crew on the flight were advised that Mr Rowan had left his insulin at Los Angeles Airport and it was not part of the process for staff to take insulin from passengers and return it to them on board.

When the flight was about two hours from Melbourne, where Mr Rowan was transferring to a flight to Western Australia, his blood glucose levels spiked. He then suffered a heart attack, according to the writ filed in the Victorian Supreme Court. "The cabin crew helped him manage his blood sugar levels with appropriate food and drink and monitored him throughout the flight, including sitting with him during the landing. Paramedics were called to meet the aircraft on arrival," he said.

I carry all my meds in my carry on. I wouldn't trust anyone else with them as they're essential to me. What's the reason behind having someone else 'stow' them?

I would of thought that he being a diabetic he would be responsible for his own meds, seriously when does the responsibility for your medication fall to cabin staff, what a fuckwit
