The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has apologised for a bungle that saw it disclose the private email addresses of at least 1,000 stranded Australians trying to get home.

The department tried to recall the email before asking recipients to delete it in order to minimise the security risk, the ABC reported.'Abandoned by the government': Emotional scenes as stranded Australians plea for more action to bring them home "We apologise for unintentionally disclosing email addresses of stranded Australians we’re trying to help get home," DFAT said in a tweet.
