John Barilaro says anyone who talks about climate change during the bushfire crisis is a 'bloody disgrace', echoing the views of the deputy prime minister Michael McCormack | AlexSmithSMH CroweDM

Mr Barilaro said on radio that ‘‘it is an absolute disgrace to be talking about climate change while we have lost lives and assets, and I make no apology for that.

The NSW bushfires have ignited a political storm with Nationals pair Michael McCormack and John Barilaro saying now is not the time to be talking about climate change.Glen Innes council mayor Carol Sparks, the first Greens member to hold that position, said last week "there’s no doubt" climate change was contributing to drought and the lack of rain and said Prime Minister Scott Morrison should act on this.

Mr McCormack singled out Greens leader Richard Di Natale and Melbourne MP Adam Bandt for "disgraceful" attempts to score political points by using the bushfires to prosecute their agenda on climate change and shut down the coal industry. "This government has had every opportunity to minimise the risk of these catastrophic fires and instead it has chosen to pour fuel on the fire," the Greens MP said.

The comments by the Nationals leaders have angered environment groups, who have organised a rally outside NSW Parliament House on Tuesday morning to highlight links between climate change and bushfires.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM But we can ban all hand guns in just 11 days? Is the knee jerk against change that heavily weighted with kick backs this time?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM These politicians are a bloody disgrace

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM So deep up the coal industry’s ass....

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM A genuine discussion about climate change is a total non-event with LNP at any time.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM It’s like talking about Jesus during Christmas

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Absolutely! Let’s talk about the big cuts made to the fire services instead, or the fact they wouldn’t meet with the fire services before the fire season started... so, we either talk about the changing climate and the lack of drought policy or your negligence! Pick one!

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Obviously the Nats can only do one thing at a time. This week, it’s look after the Fire victims, next week drought victims and the week after that may well be the flood victims. 100% this is the first priority at present but surely that doesn’t mean the cause can’t be discussed

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Thanks to everyone voted these turkeys in. Enjoy your franking credits and “illegal arrival” scaremongering. Praying is all you have with these clappers.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Completely off the planet

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM The bloody disgrace is their willingness to sell out our future for the profits of the coal industry.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM It is clearly being politicised by the LNP who then point the finger any anyone who raises the issue. The politics of distraction. The NRA playbook at work.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM But it seems the RWNJ’s are ok to blame the Greens.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Another cretin mouthing off to avoid taking responsibility for decades of head in the sand behaviour on climate change. Now is the time to shout out and shove this in the face of the current and previous governments. Inaction and stupidity is what has led to this catastrophe.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Good grief. Who votes for these fools?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Did Mr Barilaro indicate when is the right time to discuss anthropogenic climate change and the rising risk of catastrophic Bush Fires? Now or never? 2GB873 7NewsSydney Riley7News 9NewsSyd CUhlmann michellegrattan ConversationEDU CSIRO BOM_NSW LiberalAus auspol

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM The only 'bloody disgrace' is the LNP, failing the Australian people by refusing to listen to experts on catastrophic fire conditions . They were warned.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Anybody who says it causes bushfires is a disgrace If Climate change madness is their religion they can believe it and talk about it all they want.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM I guess they both missed the empathy consultant’s class....

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Anyone who won't talk about climate change and it's effect during the bushfire crisis is a bloody disgrace

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM You are the ultimate disgrace on NSW.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM There are only two disgraces... Barilaro and McCormack.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Both are are a disgrace. Why can’t we fight fires AND discuss the underlying cause?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Climate change.. climate change climate change

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM It is evident that the likes of JohnBarilaroMP and M_McCormackMP are consumed by guilt.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM There’s NO global warming and NO man made climate change. Just endless fake predictions that never pan out!!

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Vote these idiots out IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM And oz media run with this Meanwhile overseas media blaming govt inaction Hey oz media how much lnp paying for media protection

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM What’s a “disgrace” is his party and government’s sycophantic devotion to their coal donors. Make no mistake, we are and will continue paying for their sick wealth-driven ideology.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Why the hell doesn’t the government get the army in there for gods sake, stop sitting in your bloody offices and your expensive houses and help these people and fire fighters, how many more lives and houses have to be lost before something is done. 🤬🤬

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Also, it’s the Greens that caused all these fires with their policies

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM No JohnBarilaroMP YOU are the disgrace.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM What does Unbecoming look like ? John Barilaro playing the indignant card.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Minnie me speaks doesn’t say much

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Do these guys actually talk to their constituents? People so close to the earth are fully aware of climate change. They expect their representatives to actually do something to address it. Problem is their choices are between two extremes. Greens or nats. Labor, where are you?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM All other big past bushfires there was never anything mentioned about climate change

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Arse covering 101 for the Nationals as they watch their electorates burn...

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM McCormick is adorable when he tries to out do Barnaby.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Another distraction from the true reason for these unprecedented bush fires

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Borrowing from the NRA playbook, you can't talk about guns straight after a school shooting. It's interesting that there's never a good time.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM These fires are not due to climate change you flogs.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Similar to how the US can’t talk about gun control after a mass shooting? We need to have this discussion in context. The people losing their homes want a government who can take us in the right direction in this challenging area. auspol ClimateChange

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Could we talk about reversing all those years of cuts to Fire and rescue NSW funding? That really must be addressed going forward as this will only get worse

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Dead right...

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Why?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM If I remember John Howard talked about gun control during the Port Arthur massacre...

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM I’ll tell you what’s a ‘bloody disgrace’ and that’s Barilaro’s 50s bodgy hairstyle and ridiculous tight trousers.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Any politician who ignores climate change is a bloody disgrace!

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM So the mayor of Glen Innes who lost friends and her home is a “bloody disgrace”. John Barilaro should resign for those comments.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Does he mean this fellow?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Michael McCormack and John Barilaro sound like they're using the wife beater defense 'she made me beat her, she's a disgrace!'

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM 6 million acres burnt in 1862. Many many deaths. Multiple high casualty bush fires have occurred since. Not because of climate change

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM What? Like the Mayor of Glenn Innes? She's a disgrace? It's topsy-turvy time, clearly.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Barilaro, McCormack, SchoBags and Gladys are a disgrace!

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM We are being governed by idiots.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Anyone who talks about climate change and doesn’t point the finger at India and China are a bloody disgrace.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM That rope feeling around the neck ?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Agree. Who was the journo?

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Like talking about gun control after a massacre. There is no better time. Actually there was, 30 years ago.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Ummmm.... so when is an acceptable time for the Libs to discuss it? I'm guessing never. auspol ClimateEmergency

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Barilaro and McCormack (and Elliott) are the 'bloody disgrace' appallingmen

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM Meanwhile the Nats abandoned the Dairy industry.

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM NSW the fascist state

AlexSmithSMH CroweDM the_nationals don’t know who they represent anymore Big Mining and water brokers line their pockets, while their traditional heartland bleeds because of the impacts of drought

'Inner-city raving lunatics': Deputy Prime Minister's bushfires comments prompt rebuke from regional mayorsMayors from fire-ravaged NSW have criticised state and federal political leaders for failing to link deadly bushfires and climate change. All these fires & so many firebugs with a political agenda, really sad days indeed 😪😪. Climate would only impact on the frequency of natural fires, & could make less of them, it depends on the location, however these fires are not natural as the lightning strike database shows no correlation. The QLD fires are particularly suspicious. This ‘rebuke ‘ is fake everyone . This is how it works . It’s to make it appear that all these ‘leaders’ are all separate, when I fact they & all things are run by govn . It’s to give an illusion that the public have choices .

The_Nationals M_McCormackMP I wonder if he realises that the average temperature increasing every year will make bushfires much more frequent and worse? Perhaps it’s because he’s a moron?
