The death toll from the apartment building collapse in Miami, Florida has risen to four, as rescuers search through rubble looking for survivors.Local police are working with the medical examiner's office to identify the four victimsThe rescue mission continued throughout the night and is ongoing
Miami-Dade Police director Freddy Ramirez said they were working with the medical examiner's office to identify the four victims. Raide Jadallah, an assistant Miami-Dade County fire chief, said 130 firefighters worked through the night to reach any possible survivors both from under and atop the remains of the building.“Every time we hear a sound, we concentrate on those areas,” said Mr Jadallah."Debris is falling on them as they do their work," she said.
Hard to believe the complex wasn’t evacuated, or closely monitored, after a resident reported cracks, given the geotechnical history. Far as I’m aware these collapses never come out of the blue. There’s always warning signs & time. Is spending $$ on geotech work still unpopular?
