Police charge a 49-year-old man who allegedly mounted a verge in his four-wheel drive and deliberately ran over an 18-year-old cyclist in Perth's northern suburbs.

It is then alleged the Girrawheen man drove his four-wheel drive at speed directly into the back of the victim's bicycle, before driving over the top of him and coming to a stop on the side of the verge.

Police said Mr Reah did not provide any assistance to the cyclist, who was left lying on the ground behind the vehicle with life-threatening injuries.Mr Reah was arrested by police a short time after the incident and has been charged with a number of offences, including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and failing to stop and offer assistance.
