Glioblastoma is a brutal cancer of the brain, with a survival rate of less than 5 per cent five years after diagnosis. But collaboration between different experts could be the key to solving it and other medical mysteries.

Professor Kate Drummond, who is head of neurosurgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, is part of a multidisciplinary team that has been working on cutting-edge personalised therapies using genetically engineered white blood cells to attack those tumours. Health Minister Greg Hunt said collaboration was the key to solving some of the largest medical mysteries today.“Many of our greatest health challenges will only be solved by collaboration between people with different skills and different perspectives,” he said.

Professor Drummond said the team also works on how to best deliver treatments, combining the research expertise with the practicalities of clinical care. Eight of the grants totalling $40 million in funding have been directed to Victorian research teams, including work to tackle the country’s low rate of bowel screening participation and finding better interventions to improve the mental health of young people with disabilities.

How a false science ‘cure’ became Australia’s contribution to the pandemicWhen Australian researchers breathlessly reported a potential COVID-19 treatment, the course of the pandemic was altered and many countries are still paying the price. HatAlexander Absolute nonsense!! 😡🤣 HatAlexander The most bizarre thing is that there are several remedies commonly available for 'respiratory tract infections' that suit the critical burning chest + other Covid symptoms, incl naturopathic, etc. Authorities worldwide have ignored all of them... WHY? Covid does need treatment... HatAlexander Yet so many countries including the US have used ivermectin to treat those with Covid-19 successfully. If there was evidence that it worked these governments wouldn’t be allowed to push these vaccines that also are ineffective.
