Meg Lanning went from having no female role models in cricket to having millions of girls look up to her.

"I started doing it from Year 7 so once you start doing it a few times, [it showed] I could compete with them as well, which probably helped.

"I played all the way through until the end of Year 12, so once I got to the back end of it was just sort of normal I guess.From school player to international starIn 2014, at the age of 21, Lanning became the youngest captain of Australia when she replaced an injured Jodie Fields in that year's Ashes series.The top-order batter has scored 13 one-day centuries for Australia at an average of almost 53.
