Australia's women cricketers are set benefit from a new parental policy, which will provide players with paid maternity leave for the first time.

As a prominent face in cricket and a woman in her late twenties, the significance of this development is not lost on Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy.

Travel and accommodation sorted for children under the age of four, alongside a carer or support personFoster parents offered three weeks of paid leave to be taken inside the first 12 months of placementThe onus placed on players to disclose their pregnancy or parental plans to employers when they see fit, along with the guidance of medical professionals

Healy, who turns 30 next March, said the parental policy would make a huge difference to the choices and flexibility now available for female players. "Times have changed, and I remember touring back in the UK on my first Ashes trip overseas and Sarah Elliott at the time was breastfeeding in the changeroom at the lunch breaks of a Test match because she'd just had a baby," she said.
