The Victorian councillor who spoke out against the use of ring girls at a council-sponsored boxing match has resigned, saying she's been attacked by colleagues and members of the community.

, describing it as an"outdated and misogynistic concept" and that the women were being used as trophies. But in a statement to the local newspaper, she said recent events had made it clear that she had different values to the majority of the other councillors and that her position had become untenable.
