A row has erupted over the Federal Government's controversial car parks program after a council in the Liberal-held electorate of La Trobe claimed it had not been consulted about projects in its area.

"For both Beaconsfield and Pakenham Railway Station Council was informed by the Level Crossing Removal Project that the upgrades were to occur."The government's Commuter Car Park Fund program was marketed as a way of reducing congestion by allowing residents to park near public transport hubs. Mr Wood said there had been consultation with council, arguing it lobbied him for funding for the Beaconsfield Train Station car park and had classed it as a "priority project" ahead of the 2019 federal election.A 111-page document outlining the council's funding requests had Beaconsfield listed as a priority project, the Pakenham site was not.
