The UK Government has been considering whether a local lockdown is needed for the English city of Leicester amid reports about an increase in COVID-19 infections.Authorities consider Britain's first local lockdown

The Sunday Times reports that a lockdown would come within days after 658 new cases were recorded in the Leicester area in the two weeks to June 16.The Department of Health and Social Care acknowledged the city was an area of concern. On Sunday, India reported additional 19,906 confirmed cases, taking the total to 528,859 with 16,095 deaths.Mr Modi told a radio address that during the post-lockdown period, Indians have to stay more vigilant compared to the lockdown and only alertness can save them from the coronavirus.
