The Novavax vaccine, which is expected to form a key plank of Australia's rollout, has been found to be highly effective against COVID-19 and protect against variants, the company says. 9News

Novavax Chief Commercial Officer John Trizzino says the COVID-19 vaccine should be available later this year.

There were 77 cases of COVID-19 — 14 in the group that got the vaccine and the rest in volunteers who received dummy shots. None in the vaccine group had moderate or severe disease, compared to 14 in the placebo group. Side effects were mostly mild — tenderness and pain at the injection site. There were no reports of unusual blood clots or heart problems, Mr Erck said.

COVID-19 vaccines train the body to recognise the coronavirus, especially the spike protein that coats it, and get ready to fight the virus off.

Stop your geopolitics

More govt marketing trying to paste over yet another vaccine blunder. You'll still need either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Neither Novavax or AZ are mRNA vaccines and so effectiveness is vastly diminished against the new more virulent strains and those yet to appear.

BS! ⚠️☠️

SCOTTY FROM MARKETING, THE LIAR FROM THE SHIRE GOT PFIZER VACCINE NOT ASTRA ZENICA. YOU ARE FORCED TO HAVE THE BLOOD CLOT VACCINE

Is highly effective a scientific term? What else does it do? Will it mop the floor, take the kids to school, do my shopping?

Doctors now able to give COVID-19 vaccinations in homes and residential facilitiesA deal has been reached with doctors to visit people at home or in aged care or disability residential facilities to deliver COVID-19 vaccines. Doing the work of the Fed Govt now, as they should have been months ago, when they were cut out by private contractors. BULLSHIT STORY, SINCE WHEN HAVE GP's HAD TIME IN THE PAST FOR HOME VISITS. Yes, but how many will take this up going to someone’s home? You can’t guarantee their level of health advice adherence... This will only be utilised when they are in an overseen facility who have a Covid-safe plan, in which it should have been part of the rollout all along.
