It's hoped a 25-kilometre wire fence bisecting the Yorke Peninsula will keep feral pests out and native wildlife in — but farmers are not convinced.

It's hoped a 25-kilometre wire fence bisecting South Australia's Yorke Peninsula will eradicate feral animals and allow for the reintroduction of native animals not seen in the area since the 1950s — but farmers are not convinced it will work. The fence has a skirt at the bottom to prevent foxes from digging underneath while the top is floppy to prohibit cats from scaling over

As part of the first stage of the Great Southern Ark project, the fence has cut across the peninsula to create a 140,000 hectare"safe haven" for native wildlife. Ranger in charge Mark Davison said beyond the national park, the area also encompassed"the whole of the southern Yorke Peninsula from just above Warooka".
