Nathan Cleary steered Penrith to a gripping 8-6 defeat of Parramatta in Mackay to set up a shot at avenging the heartbreak of last year’s grand final loss to Melbourne.
The Panthers meet the Storm at Suncorp Stadium in next Saturday’s semi-final for the chance to take on the winner of Friday night’s South Sydney-Manly clash in the premiership decider after holding out the Eels in a scoreless second half. The loss was the fourth time in five seasons that Brad Arthur’s Parramatta outfit have exited in the second week of the finals and ensures the club’s long suffering fans will need to weight at least another year to witness an end to a premiership drought stretching back to 1986.
The difference in the end was a Nathan Cleary penalty goal in the shadows of halftime after a Will Smith high tackle on Liam Martin. It will be a devastating blow for coach Brad Arthur and his Eels players who played their hearts out but didn't get the result.

The real shit thing about this is no matter the illegal and shit calls the ref makes, the match result won't still change unfortunately. And that's what sucks. Penrith did an illegal interchange and it's been shown that so many incorrect calls were made...but it changes nothing.
com I watched the game and all things considered I think the Panthers were very lucky and if they think it possible to beat the Storm they should have another think because the Storm are coming .
