"The whole family are proud of her for what she has done out of love for the community," Ms Palmer said. Mrs Palmer died of kidney failure on January 20, 2021, and has been remembered for her ongoing service to the Arrernte community in Alice Springs. Ms Palmer said this week was "very emotional" for her family, given the closeness of the announcement to the anniversary of her mother's death.
