In his coronavirus briefing, Premier Daniel Andrews stopped short of announcing details of the new measures around Melbourne childcare centres and families. But here's what we know.

Childcare centres in Melbourne could soon be closed to most families under stage four coronavirus restrictions, apart from vulnerable children and the children of "permitted workers".

He said he would wait until Friday, after consulting with the Prime Minister, who's hinted at fresh support for the childcare sector. Will all Melbourne childcare centres close down?Mr Andrews announced on Sunday that childcare centres in Melbourne would be closed down as students returned to home-based lessons.

"It is a very significant issue, but it's not one that I can make announcements about," Mr Andrews said. "It's very important that we keep these facilities open, so they're available to people who need them. There are a number of ways that we can do that, and that's what the Education Minister [Dan Tehan] is working through right now," Mr Morrison said. When will closed childcare centres reopen?

Under stage four restrictions, Melburnians are permitted to travel up to 5 kilometres from their homes for necessary goods and services. At this stage, it seems the only way you could get a babysitter in Melbourne is if you're a permitted worker and don't want to put your son or daughter in childcare.Am I a 'permitted worker'?

I don't imagine there is a shortage of childcare places atm... but I am sure comrade Dan will have the answers :)

Support for childcare workers, no job seeker payment for them.

Building industry unites to oppose COVID-19 shutdownHeavyweight unions and peak building groups, more often at war than not, are uniting behind a bid to keep construction under way and building sites open during Victoria’s harsh stage four lockdown. If DanielAndrewsMP can't close down constructions then he is a complete and utter sell out hypocrite. This is the issue so many will say there business is essential It's 6 weeks, they can survive a shutdown. I've been home for 17 out of the last 19 weeks and feel until you are really affected by it, people don't seem to take it seriously. Maybe shutting down some of these other industries might see some more people take this seriously.
