Australia’s “shameful episodes” are no reason to avoid celebrating Australia’s “successful, cohesive and free society” on the national day, Sky News host RitaPanahi says.

Australia’s “shameful episodes” are no reason to avoid celebrating Australia’s “successful, cohesive and free society” on the national day, Sky News host Rita Panahi says. Ms Panahi said people born in Australia or those who are lucky enough to migrate to Australia have “won the lottery of life” and are “deadset” against changing the national date. “Next it will be changing the anthem then the flag then eliminating the national day altogether,“ Ms Panahi said.

“Poll after poll has shown the overwhelming majority of Australians support the national day on January 26, but we have a loud, bitter class of shrill, self-loathers in the media, academic, government bodies… all telling us our national holiday is a shameful celebration of oppression, genocide and western imperialism,” she said. “More than 70 per cent of Australians support Australia Day being celebrated,” Ms Panahi said.

RitaPanahi Young boring people, don’t have anything in common, stand in front of a mirror visually see beautiful images.

RitaPanahi Changing the date ‘won’t end Australia Day bashing’ via YouTube

RitaPanahi I agree but why does it have to be on a date which commemorates the arrival of the first fleet? Why can't it be another date? For example Jan 1 which would commemorate the date the country became a federation.

RitaPanahi Yes if not the British who else. Colonisation of Australia was inevitable.

RitaPanahi Celebrating Centrelink payments way more than others

RitaPanahi Archaeologists have proven the FIRST “OWNERS” of Australia were Neanderthals.... from Africa! HappyAustraliaDay AustraliaDay26thJanuary

RitaPanahi If they're goin' to bang on about 'invasion day' ffs, could they at least point the finger in the right direction. No Australian invaded this land 235 years ago. They were British, there were no such people called Australians back then. So go to England & sort your shit out !

RitaPanahi Yes I agree I was born in UK the place was invaded by the Romans, Anglo Saxons ,Norman's it has a mixed culture now with Africans Asians, Europeans, just makes you Into a stronger country. What happened in the past we should learn from

RitaPanahi

RitaPanahi Yes to you hard done by so call Australians citizens that's Aboriginal people as well what would you be saying if Germany won the second world war ...the lot of you just go away and think about it...Stop trying to make some thing out of nothing ...It's,Australia and the 26 is it

RitaPanahi Most complaining are themselves refugees the other half are just that half cast not 100 percent or eighty percent Aboriginal the true black.are not even protesters..work that out..

RitaPanahi Just a thought but how old is the indigenous flag? Must be younger than the Aussie flag?

RitaPanahi our country is one of only 22 full democracies. Our freedoms result from our British background, our past tragedies as also relate to that background. Our nation has recognized those tragedies, there is more work to be done but We must all reject guilt activism

RitaPanahi Why doesn't Rita just come out and identify as a white woman like she clearly wants to?

RitaPanahi There are no happy ever afters. This is not heaven on earth and never will be. We can make things better for all if we move forward without feeling the need to virtue signal. Policy based on virtue signalling never works.

RitaPanahi What happened in the past in Australia is not so different to what has happened in the past throughout the world. What is so different in what happened in the past in Australia.

RitaPanahi Millions of Australians are quite happy with the date

RitaPanahi The first question with this antiquated cookery is always, 'successful, cohesive and free' for whom? Get lost, we're changing the entire face of the country.

AJR2093 RitaPanahi Nice picture of division. The anti-Australia flag flying next to our national Australian flag. australiaday2020

RitaPanahi Remember the past (everyone and every country has one), and learn from it, but live in the present and plan for the future. Experiences make up what people are today. Celebrate AustraliaDay 👍🌝

RitaPanahi Its time to declare a Republic and change Australia Day to Independence Day. Then everyone can be happy and we can put an end to this useless bickering.

RitaPanahi COO-EE July 27 1917 australiaDay changeTheDate

RitaPanahi Which day? Speaking as a West Australian (now living in NSW) this fixation with Jan 26 is puzzling. changeTheDate

RitaPanahi Which successful, free and cohesive society is that she's talking about?

RitaPanahi Majority of Australians want Australia Day January 26, to remain. This can be confirmed by referendum. Every country on earth has a history. Celebrate that we a free and prosperous country.

RitaPanahi Well said Rita, Happy Australia Day! 🇦🇺

RitaPanahi Even by your standards, this is drivel. And yes, the anthem and flag are also objectively awful and don’t represent many Australians just like Australia Day doesn’t.

RitaPanahi

RitaPanahi The Indigenous people should starting recognising Australia Day as LIBERATION DAY, where they were Liberated from the non evolving life of the 40,000 years of perpetual Groundhogs Day.

RitaPanahi I think those people are just asking to have the facts recognised on how damaging English colonialism was for some. We currently have our head in the sand in collective denial so people feel the need to continually justify and live in that victimhood

RitaPanahi It is another no win decision. Change the date just a different bunch of people will be upset. I say leave it as it is. Aboriginals are a tough bunch & can deal with it much better than the rest of us.

RitaPanahi InvasionDay2020 PayTheRent AbolishAustraliaDay

RitaPanahi The so called shameful episodes are not really worth even giving any time to, go out, celebrate, live for now, f**k the rest of it.

RitaPanahi Fock Off Murdoch. Yes it will. ThisisNotJournalism This is junk commentary.

RitaPanahi InvasionDay AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe changethedate

RitaPanahi Australia something something la la la la land so beautiful or something like that la la la la something Australia something.

RitaPanahi What shameful episode's?

'People are listening a lot more': why Dan Sultan likes to work on Australia DayLike many Indigenous people, singer-songwriter Dan Sultan finds AustraliaDay 'painful' and believes a national day would be more inclusive if held on a different date. But he says the conversation is more respectful than it used to be australiaday2020 He looks European FFS he carries more colonial DNA than I do as a recent arrival. He has benefited from the Australian state.... this debate is utterly utterly toxic. Australia will fall if the left continue to push this narrative.....I suppose this is what they want. Also Very painful to get blamed for what a Government did back in the ages and that they don't recognize poor people was taken away from their families back in the UK and used as slaves on a horrific journey by sea and hanged if not obey them. If he plugs his guitar into a wall he can instead try banging 2 sticks together.
