On Canada’s east and west coasts, schools and government offices will be closed on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral. But in the two most populous provinces, employees will be at work – unless they are federal employees. Banks and other federal industries, however, have been given the option to close – or to remain open.. But the ensuing chaos of determining who qualifies for the holiday has left workers confused across the country.

“This will give all Ontarians an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth II and her unrelenting commitment to service and duty,” the premier, Doug Ford, said in a statement. The commission said the stoppage of subways, buses and streetcars would be part of the city’s “coordinated tribute” to Elizabeth and that service would “resume immediately” after the brief period of silence.

Public holiday throws scheduling for Queensland elective surgeries into disarrayQueensland Health said the Palaszczuk Government was still 'working through any impacts' the public holiday to mourn Queen Elizabeth would have on health services. Elbow should have proclaimed a one day national lockdown of mourning. Absolutely no adverse health effects from a lockdown. I guess some-one dying does that...

I mourn the Queen, but my cancer cells don’t observe public holidaysI’m sure the Queen wouldn’t have wanted to see cancer patients – or indeed anyone expecting important health treatment on September 22 – to be put through this kind of stress. I survived cancer years ago, hospitals don't close down completely on public holidays, my appointment was rescheduled on a weekend & not a week day, so was o.k. with that. didn't lockdowns bring a lot more disruption than a public holiday? who comes up with these story ideas..........not us

I mourn the Queen, but my cancer cells don’t observe public holidaysI’m sure the Queen wouldn’t have wanted to see cancer patients – or indeed anyone expecting important health treatment on September 22 – to be put through this kind of stress. My mother is awaiting a formal cancer diagnosis in Victoria. It's been absolutely dogshit getting into scans and specialists as is it. Every day counts when undergoing treatment! ALP does 'naive and reckless' better than anybody, routinely ... they never miss a chance to stuff things up, it's in their DNA. 'When the Communists take over' implies that the Communists never make anything. Just exploit. Albo did it purely for popularity.

Trudeau declares federal holiday for Queen’s funeral – but most Canadians will have to workEmployees under provincial jurisdiction – the vast majority of Canadian workers – are not affected by the declaration Makes more sense though to have the public holiday on the day of the funeral like the UK is doing- rather than a random midweek day like Aus. is doing Trudeau truly is a sick and twisted lying tyrant. The damage he has done to his country is disgusting.

Unscheduled public holiday to remember Queen Elizabeth plunges hospitals, small businesses into chaosMany Australians will have Thursday 22 September off work and school to mourn Queen Elizabeth II, but not everyone is happy about it. With good reason - unintended consequences for so many - and no compensation even considered I am outraged. As a casual worker I have lost money that I had budgeted for. The government talks about cost of living pressures on families yet takes a days wage off them to mourn a queen. This is an ill thought out decision by an out of touch government. 😡 Casual teachers will sacrifice a day's pay for HM, while permanent and temp staff will receive a day's pay.
