'Can I leave? I'm about to cry': Naomi Osaka walks out after shock loss

Karolina Pliskova, Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina have charged into Wimbledon's second round by opening their assaults with straight-sets victories.

Pliskova is among the big favourites to win the title and arrived in London having blitzed the field to lift the trophy at Eastbourne on Saturday. But she was not at her best against Zhu, who has never won a grand slam match, and the Chinese player held set point three times serving at 6-5."It's tough to compare with the week in Eastbourne. I think it was quite normal. Of course, it went a little bit longer, and I almost dropped a set. It's still almost.

One of Pliskova's biggest rivals, Osaka, was a shock first-round casualty with the US and Australian Open winner struggling to cope with her 7-6 , 6-2 loss to Ukrainian Yulia Putintseva. But seventh-seeded Halep shook off an injury early in her opener and won five games in a row in the second set to overcome Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 7-5, while eighth seed Svitolina handed Australia's Daria Gavrilova a bagel en route to a 7-5, 6-0 victory.
