Indigenous rangers in Southern Queensland are conducting cultural burns on State Government-owned properties, with leaders calling it a 'breakthrough' for bushfire management.

He said last year's devastating bushfires had piqued mainstream interest in cultural burning."Here in this region, it's pretty much the first time we've had a partnership with the emergency services.

"It's not just about taking away the fuel, it's understanding when to burn and burning for the right vegetation," he said. "Ultimately this is going to improve the bushfire seasons in terms of [country] being more resilient."Mr Steffensen said there was still some resistance to cultural burning, often based on fear and lack of knowledge about the processes."If they'd listened to Aboriginal people … right from the beginning, we would be way ahead. The Bunya Peoples' Aboriginal Rangers are conducting cultural burns on properties owned by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Great when indigenous communities are known to have higher rates of bushfire arson is this a smart message ?

When did hazard reduction burning become “cultural burning”?🤔🤡

You mean back burning. To reduce fire hazards. Which we did for decades before the Greens stopped us.

Hazard reduction burns bad, “cultural” burning good. Got it. 🙄

Don't forget to tell the hippies it's 'cultural burning'

so not a climate emergency then ?

Great way to create jobs

Soooo back burning in the off season is what you mean.....which was supposed to happen until the green stuck their noses in

Back burning that occurs in most countries worldwide, normal part of life cycle

The conservation movement in the 60/70s and the greens in the 80s, combined with climate change, have created an environment conducive to a perfect fire-storm. Pity the Aboriginals, with 60000 years of fire management weren't consulted earlier.

You mean back burning

Smart pretending backburning is some special aboriginal thing now the green groups won't try to stop it

I remember when saying it was fuel on the ground was climate change denial? I won't hold my breath for an apology.

You nearly got it abcnews......come on spew it out.......'back burning'....well helloooooo!

Im all for back burning, wish the green nuts hadnt pressured govt agencies to stop it Not sure what the dancing is supposed to do though

Prevention is the best protection for sure, especially as more people are moving in the areas as a retirement option.....having a gay green party running bushfire zones from inner capital cities is a joke. I mean Andrew's called in the Navy....Fucking hell....what's going on?

It has to start. There's 230 years of catching up to do

That won't work in a climate crisis

Why have local govts & LNP left this idea pending? Now is the time to prepare not when it's too late. auspol bushfires environment

Comprehensive bullshit. Rural folk have called for seasonal burnoffs for decades, only to be thwarted by Greens thugs. Now it's a 'cultural' burn it's embraced by those same fools.

As close as the ABC will ever come to admitting the lack of back-burning from the woke-folks led to the scope & intensity of the awful bushfires, sad 😢.

'Cultural Burning' is Leftard speak for controlled hazard reduction back burning.

Hail godse

Scientific burning please, not by people who know nothing.

Let’s just keep it all locked up like the greens have done and ride it out - now there’s a challenge -

Calls for an inquiry into over-representation of children on the spectrum in gender clinics | Sky News AustraliaAn internationally recognised expert on autism 'is concerned' about the increasingly large number of children with autism presenting themselves to Australia's gender clinics, according to The Australian's Bernard Lane.\n\nAccording to figures in The Australian, 45 per cent of the of the 383 patients in Melbourne's Royal Children's hospital's show mild-to-severe autism features when they sit a screening test.\n\nProfessor Tony Attwood is calling for an inquiry into the over-representation of children on the spectrum at gender clinics.\n\n“One of the characteristics of autism is what we call a one-track mind, and sometimes the issue of gender dysphoria (discomfort with one’s body) and changing gender becomes a special interest with a phenomenal knowledge and determination,' Professor Atwood told The Australian.\n\n“Once they’ve changed gender, they still have autism and when (gender) transition doesn’t solve their problems they think, Oh no, that was the only option I had, what’s the point of life?' \n\nMr Lane told Sky News autism clinicians are often the subject of online harassment if they raise their concerns.\n\n'This is a subject that has been discussed mostly behind the scenes because when autism clinicians have gone public to express their concern that in the gender clinics, there is a fixation on gender issues and other underlying issues that may be requiring a different kind of response, such as autism, are not being properly looked at' he said.\n\n'When autism clinicians float that possibility they tend to be attacked, in some cases there are death threats, there are complaints to professional bodies and a lot of online harassment.'\n\n\n\n What? Noooooooo Few people wanted to listen to Alex Jones - ranting about pesticides / herbicides ... turning frogs gay ... ... but maybe more people might like to listen to the Berkeley University Professor - who did the study? ___ Must be vaccines, or activated almonds
