Vic govt prepares for COVID-19 pandemic | Sky News AustraliaThe State Control Centre has been activated in Melbourne to deal with the spread of the coronavirus as a means for the government to coordinate the different agencies dealing with the outbreak in order to centralise the information and response. \n\nThe outbreak was at a level two emergency and tier two seriousness however an increase of local transmissions could cause a state of emergency to be called which would grant the premier and chief health officer additional powers to help curb the spread of the virus.\n\nA surge in demand for testing facilities in Melbourne saw long lines outside clinics with more than 1,000 people tested on Tuesday. \n\nAs the number of confirmed cases rises in Victoria, the state government increased the number of testing clinics. \n\nVic Premier Daniel Andrews said the state was still in a “containment phase” but it was “not a matter of if but when we move from that phase to a pandemic'. \n\nImage: Getty The man in the middle is far too close to the china virus.
