Queensland Health Minister StevenJMiles has issued an unwavering warning to protesters planning to rally for refugee rights in Brisbane tomorrow.

Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles has issued an unwavering warning to protesters planning to rally for refugee rights in Brisbane tomorrow. “To people who are concerned about the treatment of refugees, I understand your concern, I appreciate your concern, however your concern is with decisions of the federal government, not with Queenslanders whose health could be put at risk if these protests go ahead,” he said.

“That’s what’s at stake here; whether hundreds of Queenslanders can have their families visit them in their nursing homes or not,” he said. “The decision to breach health directions and put that at risk is not selfless, it is selfish. “They should not think for a moment that they are part of one of the world’s great protest movements, those protesters put their own lives at risk, not the lives of others or the lives of innocent people.

Vic lockdown will 'drive up' food prices across Australia | Sky News AustraliaInvestSMART’s Evan Lucas says “it’s simple economics” that food prices will rise due to the strict stage four lockdowns in Victoria.\n\n“In terms of the fact that we won’t have the same amount of supply on the supermarket shelves, it will therefore drive up prices,” Mr Lucas told Sky News.\n\nStage four lock downs on businesses and manufacturing came into effect today, resulting in depleted workforces for many industries, including food processing.\n\nMeat, and lamb in particular, is expected to be an issue under the strict lockdowns as almost 40 per cent of it is processed in Victoria. \n\n“The supply of meat will come, but it will clearly slow up and therefore drive prices higher because demand will be just as it was with less supply,' he said.
