Queensland MP Jann Stuckey announces her heart-wrenching decision to retire after serving her Currumbin electorate for 16 years, revealing her ongoing battle with depression.

Ms Stuckey said in her time as an MP she was ridiculed and abused and said the kind of behaviour that was tolerated in politics would not be tolerated elsewhere."Insults that used to be like water off a duck's back started to affect me.

Ms Stuckey previously said she would not contest her seat at the next election, but would officially end her tenure eight months sooner on February 1. "I thank the people of the Currumbin electorate from the bottom of my heart for giving me the honour of serving them since 2004. It has been a truly wonderful privilege.

"On behalf to the LNP, I want to thank Jann Stuckey for her dedicated service to the people of Currumbin and the people of Queensland," Ms Frecklington said.

I wish Ms Stuckey all the best, battling poor mental health is a difficult thing to go through.

Certainly hope you don't need to register for Newstart...apparently Centrelink know more about your mental health than your psychologist! Who knew 🤷‍♀️

The association of negative things with the colour black shows just how deep the systematic racism of western society runs.

Good luck to her, mental health is important.
