Raiders back-rower John Bateman will undergo another round of shoulder surgery that will sideline the English star indefinitely.

The 26-year-old forward had been expected to make his NRL return in coming weeks having been rehabbing the injury since February. No timeline has been given for Bateman’s return, with a better idea of how long he is out to come after Thursday’s operation."I'm gutted to be having surgery again but it's what's best for me and the team and to help me get back on the field as soon as possible,"“I'll be working harder than ever with my rehab to get myself back on the field with the lads. See you all soon.

Bateman’s long-term future has also been clouded, with Canberra reluctantly giving him permission to negotiate with NRL rivals given they can’t afford the contract upgrade he is chasing.

'Police cars rammed' as Melbourne driver evades policeA driver with a blown tyre refuses to pull over and allegedly rams a number of police cars before driving the wrong way down a highway. Not in Australia’s California! Ramming a police car seems like a very odd method of evading them. 🤔 The contrast between the 44th and 45th presidents in a single day could not have been more dramatic. Barack Obama on Monday published a carefully reasoned article about police violence and mob violence, advising his fellow Americans how to restore peace and justice.
