Former Vice President Joe Biden will be hoping his campaign can finally spring to life after a succession of disappointing results, with the Democratic presidential primary race heading to South Carolina this week.

Mr Biden is no longer the frontrunner to win the nomination, with Vermont senator Bernie Sanders favoured to pick up a majority of delegates after winning New Hampshire and Nevada.

However, despite placing a distant second to Senator Sanders in Nevada, Mr Biden's campaign manager Greg Schultz tweeted that the result will spark "the Biden comeback". According to the latest polls, Mr Biden narrowly leads Senator Sanders in South Carolina 24 to 22 per cent.
