Wildlife carers on the NSW South Coast remain swamped with work in the wake of the bushfires.

"I have another three hours to go."The older bats are fed harder fruits like pears and apples as well as softer options like bananas, grapes, figs, peaches and nectarines."The chopping of soft fruit is time consuming, but just knowing we're doing our bit to help them and get them onto the road to recovery and give them some food means I'm really enjoying my time," Ms Mueller said.

"It's a legal entity and we're a caring organisation but we need to be more proactive in wildlife welfare and for that, we need active members willing to shoulder responsibility."

'I'm opposed to a royal commission into Australia's bushfires': Alan Jones | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Alan Jones says he is opposed to a royal commission into bushfires because “it panders to the deliberately created international perception that these bushfires are unprecedented”. \n\nLast week, Prime Minister Scott Morrison outlined the details of the government’s royal commission into the nation’s devastating summer of bushfires, saying its main objective is to “keep Australians safe”.\n\nMr Morrison said the royal commission will be focused on a three-pronged approach, primarily related to improving natural disaster management coordination across all levels of government, improving Australia's 'resilience and adaptation to a changing climate' and for providing a legal framework for Commonwealth involvement in future national emergencies.\n\nMr Jones said his stance is not intended “to diminish the tragedy and trauma of what has taken place”. \n\n“However, there has been a ruthless and relentless campaign by the global warming apologists to make sure the world believes these fires were unprecedented and a royal commission panders to that.”\n\nSky News hosts Alan Jones and Graham Richardson spoke with the Mayor of the Bega Valley Shire Kristy McBain, who gave an insight into the ongoing plight her region faces as a result of the devastating summer of bushfires. \n\n'The most desperate need that we have at the moment is for people, and governments especially, to understand ... there are people impacted by the disaster as a whole, those people at the moment are falling through the cracks,' Ms McBain said. \n\nImage: Getty Well of course Jonesy knows more than the RFS Commissioner.
