'Bad culture growing': Report finds Islamophobic incidents becoming more brazen | jennynoise

Incidents of Islamophobia remain a troubling presence in the lives of Australian Muslims, with perpetrators becoming more severe and brazen in their attacks, which are most often aimed at women, a report has found.

A total of 349 verified incidents were reported to the register over 2016 and 2017, most of which were directed at Muslim women and girls and carried out by male perpetrators of Anglo-Celtic appearance. The incidents include online and verbal abuse as well as physical intimidation in public, violence and death threats.Almost all of the women – 96 per cent – were targeted while wearing the hijab, and verbal insults regarding their religious appearance were the most common form of attack.

In the second incident, the woman said a truck driver "made a calculated effort to lean out his window as I was driving past him and yell 'GO HOME' ".Report author Derya Iner, from Charles Sturt University's Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation, said the danger of these kinds of incidents was not just about physical harm.

While most incidents were verbal , the report noted a slight increase from the previous report to the rate of damage to property and physical attacks requiring hospitalisation . The second report showed a 30 per cent increase in harassment in places where security guards and/or surveillance existed. Shopping centres were the most popular anti-Muslim harassment hot spot, where vilification increased from 17 per cent in the previous report to 25 per cent.

jennynoise Muslim report written by Muslims claim Muslims are victims of anti-Muslim crimes by non-Muslims. Recommend non-Muslims pander more to Muslims in the future.

jennynoise Bad culture alright .

jennynoise MMMMMmmmm wonder why ...huh

jennynoise Wish someone would ask them about their plans for LGBT community if one day their numbers put them in power. I mean in every single country ruled by that ideology being LGBT at best means prison and at worst means death. I wonder why the left thinks it would be any different

jennynoise to every Muslim in Australia reading this right now...we’re sorry. ❤️ this is your county too and that will never change. this is a country of all religions, all races...no exceptions.

jennynoise Don't worry about radical Islam so much in Australia. Worry about radicalised stupidity that has us so ignorant of the middle that we rejoiced over the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. We didn't rejoice over Yemen because we had no idea what was going on there.

'Very bad step' on Liberal politicians' part to 'get involved with China' | Sky News AustraliaProfessor at RMIT University Joe Siracusa says the two parliamentarians are “absolutely correct” to criticise China but it was a “very bad step on their part to get involved with those people”.\n \nSenator James Paterson was due to travel to China with MP Andrew Hastie next month but when they called the embassy to arrange their visas they were told they were not welcome. \n \n“They were going to go sponsored by China Matters, which is a private organisation, you’ve got two members of parliament who are going somewhere on someone’s dime to see what China looks like and were obliged to come back and talk about their experiences,” Mr Siracusa told Sky News.\n \n“That is hardly Independent behaviour and I think it was a very bad step on their part to get involved with those people.\n \n“This whole China thing is going to get worse and worse, because China’s ramping up with Hong Kong.”\n Hastie one of the few polis in this country with conviction & a backbone. When did China give RMIT permission to criticise them? Surely some penance will be required less the foerign student stream of income is affected. Well old Joe might feel a little bit better about the slightly messy means of communication in a few months once HK is in flames, and the raw footage of camps, crematoriums and organ harvesting starts to flow out of Chinazi Time to pick a side.
