Australians willing to pay for climate action, but say government not doing fair share | CroweDM

More than half the community is willing to accept a personal cost to help cut Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions, with 51 per cent of voters backing the idea amid stronger support for a net zero carbon target for 2050.

Support for net zero by 2050 has grown from 55 per cent in June to 60 per cent September and 62 per cent in October, a period in which Labor called on the government to endorse the goal and the Nationals split on the issue before federal cabinet this week formally set the target. Another 34 per cent rejected paying a personal cost, a figure that included 8 per cent who believed others should pay and 27 per cent who believed they should not pay and others should not either.

“Does climate action come at the cost of the weekend? Will it push a Sunday roast to $100? Will it be a few extra dollars on a quarterly electricity bill? Voters expressed their views during the time Mr Morrison was waiting for Mr Joyce and his party room to decide their stance on climate policy but all the results were received before the Nationals announced support for net zero late on Sunday.

CroweDM We’ll find out what Australians think at the next election. It could be that Australian outside the capital cities think very differently.

CroweDM How dumb are people who ask the ‘government to do their fair share’. Governments have no money. They run on tax. So to do their fair share they spend more tax which comes from taxpayers. Brilliant.

CroweDM

CroweDM which Australians?

CroweDM We need a plebiscite or something; I want to know who these 'Australian' are!

CroweDM Scott, less spin and get serious about actually reducing co2 and not relying on stopping land clearing as the main reason emissions reduced

CroweDM I'd be more inclined to believe the poll called the last election.

CroweDM I wouldn't hire scomo as a school principal...maybe a supermarket manager.

CroweDM The only thing good old Aussies will pay for his a glass of beer not climate change

CroweDM Good old Aussie pay for climate change do you forget do you forget that carbon tax good old pensioners didn't want to pay for it

CroweDM China is the world’s largest carbon emitter and has stated to bring its total greenhouse gas emissions to a peak by 2030 then reduce down to to zero by 2060.

CroweDM quality j’ism

CroweDM lol no Can't afford the vanity solutions offered for climate change.

CroweDM There has been no real work done by the LNP on the issue of climate change and the so called plan is exhibit A. Pathetic.

CroweDM Because the Libs & Nats are carbon captured by the fossil fuel industry.

CroweDM One pollster finds 51% of Australians willing to pay more translates into 'all Australians' according to SMH.....

CroweDM LNP are not serious on climate policy This is a sad reflection of the Morrison Government failure to act in the best interests of the public COP26 COP26Glasgow auspol Australia

CroweDM 🥵🤷🏼‍♀️🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺Help us please, this is beyond.
