Australian Catholic University Senior Research Fellow Dr Kevin Donnelly says the issue of Australia’s sliding education ranking is “a real problem”. Credlin

Australian Catholic University Senior Research Fellow Dr Kevin Donnelly says the issue of Australia’s sliding education ranking is “a real problem”. Dr Donnelly’s comments come following the release of the Programme for International Student Assessment results, which shows Australian students are falling behind other developed countries in reading, maths and science.

The results represented a long-term decline in student performance, and showed the performance of Australian teenagers in mathematics had fallen to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development average. “If you look at other international tests… it's the same story,” he told Sky News. “Over the last 18 years we’ve gone backwards. “Our students are plummeting down the table.

quelineruby64 How about parents take a more vested interest in their children’s education? Just a thought. If parents were more involved would we have this poor performance years down the track? We rely too much on our government. It’s a disturbing to think people give them so much control!

Well how long have we had a federal coalition government in power for again? Oh and how long has NSW had a coalition government in power? Hmmm these kids tested in yr10 were in 4th class when the Lib/Nats took power. This slip in education standards has happened on THEIR watch!

NO IPADS & LAPTOPS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL WILL HELP GREATLY TO FIX THE PROBLEM

Kevin Donnelly’s existence is a problem to education and Australians

Gee I wonder if taking children out of class to jump up and down about the world supposedly ending has anything to do with this🤔

so teachers in NSW will strike on Thursday! 🙄 and you wonder why Australia is getting dumber! 🙄 auspol education

No shit, Sherlock.

Seven years of neglect & budget cuts coming home to roost. Education sinks with the NBN, the NDIS & grandma starving in the nursing home. budgetsurplus auspol scuntmo

Blame the Cath, Anglican & Jews & their lib theology fancies. As C.S Lewis said over 80 years ago there is always a drift in these elites from will & intellect towards fantasies like their 'Outcomes Based Education' fiasco & not holding parents accountab. (Screwtape letter 6)

this can be directly attributed to successive ALP state governments

It's almost as though all that money pouring into the private school system isn't helping the average student. Who'd have thought?

The real reason is the lack of well educated teachers.

Ya think?

But they seem to be doing ok in running

How would you like to be a parent who has to listen to their kids talk about all sorts of time wasting rubbish, including photographers and filming allowed at the school, I just don't understand why children should be subjected to all that. What about maths, English etc

You reckon?
