By the mid-afternoon, the whole of the Ashes series has been reduced to a single question: how do you get him out? GregBaum's analysis

You didn’t have to imagine former England captain Nasser Hussain, peering through the mysteriously blackened windows of the press box as "he" picked another ball from middle stump to square leg. “Oh my word,” he exclaimed, “he just doesn’t miss ‘em there.”

Here’s some stats to go on with while you’re waiting for Smith. He made nearly as many yesterday as the hapless David Warner has for the series, and in three fewer innings. He’s made as many in the series as England’s best two players combined. He’s made a third of all of Australia’s runs in the series, despite missing three innings. He’s top-scored in every innings he’s played, which is unprecedented. So many stones, one Gibraltar.

Smith did what he does. Ball after ball, he took up his broadside position. If it was wide of off stump, he drove or cut, both off the back foot, calypso style. If it was nearer to off, he blocked or left. If it was on the stumps, he flicked to leg. If it was short, he ducked or paddled. When Leach began to nag, he stiffened his arms and hit him far over mid-on for six. Leach nagged no more. Whatever it was, he was ready for it. Whatever it did, he dealt with it. He didn't misjudge.

Steve Smith's historic Ashes feat not enough to rescue AustraliaSteve Smith achieved a feat that eluded even Don Bradman but it was not enough to rescue Australia after another substandard batting performance. Once a cheat.... he's great -- the rest of the batsmen are bloody awful and should never tour England again Apart from Smith and Labuschagne, our batting lineup is horrendous. The worst I’ve seen in a long long time. These guys have absolutely no idea how to score. Warner....are you serious? It’s a wonder how we retained these ashes.

What makes Cameron Smith rugby league's best player? He's light on brawn but a heavyweight in the subtler arts of league. What is it that Smith does on the field, and how has he sustained his edge? His game management, control and subtleties in play. Best ive ever seen. Ppl criticise him but anyone who understands league would have him on their team. The media. Craig Bellamy?
