In truth, it happened hours before the miracle victory was clinched by the wicketkeeper who can't catch and the net bowlers who were 18th, 19th and 20th in line for a spot in the team.
After Hazlewood's bouncer, Pujara simply called for a new helmet and determinedly sailed on, staring into the middle distance, dismissed only once he'd moved India to the launching pad from which Rishabh Pant would secure one of the great Test victories.
What is left to say about Pant? His undefeated 89 pushed his series aggregate to 274 runs at 68.50. Will it forever banish the debate about what India loses from his sub-par glovework? He probably wishes every Test was played in Australia. Some of his teammates might wish the same.Australia has far more difficult conversations ahead.
A bowler who struggled all summer to aim accurately within the width and height of three stumps was asked to come around the wicket, avoiding deep footmarks that meant he was delivering the ball an extra yard, push through the pain of a hamstring injury that had reduced his rhythm and pace, on the final day of a punishing series, to hit a target the width of a fingernail.
. Chappell is not given to exaggerations. On camera, he doesn't permit himself such excesses as smiling.
Our bowlers are terrible. Captaincy in the field not grwat either. Very reactionary...
Absolutely fantastic news for India. I cheered as I saw the disappointed looks on the Aussie cheats. Especially David Warner. Honest Payback bloke. Honest Payback. No sandpaper, no under arm, no fudging. Just belted the kaka outta us Aussies. Well done.
Inidia took a risk and gave debutants a chance to prove themselves and they did a bloody good job. Australia needa to revisit their team and selection peocess there are to many non performing permanent fixtures in the team, this does not allow for new blood to come in and shine.
After Indian cricket team's momentous victory GabbaBrisbane wiil someone smash a tray of rotten eggs on LNPQLD Ros_Bates_MP's face for being obnoxious to Indians when they raised genuine issues on unfair quarantine rules? She is a fricking public eembarrassment. AnnastaciaMP
Well done to cricket Australia. Moving the 1st test from the gabba was a great idea. Kudos to India though they earned the series win with guts and determination.
Both teams had very iffy openers and fantastic batsmen at 3 and 4. 5 was equally not noteworthy and 6 had a tyro. Let's leave the WKs out. Australia's bowling strength didn't translate to match-winning performances, barring the 36. Taking 20 wickets at home was a struggle!
Were the same set of bowlers played across four Tests more because of their record or current performance? Lyon and Starc didn't seem potent weapons (in hindsight)
Took no chances. Mix it up. Marnus and Green can bowl yet never used. Starc wasnt getting it done so take a risk and throw a curve ball to the batsmen. Be different. Australia has always had a history of taking risks. We are now vanilla.
Great game, well done India!
