Now former-minister Christian Porter has released a lengthy statement attacking the ABC for subjecting him to what Mr Porter called a “trial by media” that unleashed a “mob” against him.Mr Porter’s statement said he will not step down from his seat and has nominated for preselection to be the Liberal candidate at the next election. It said he was provided an assurance none of the anonymous financial contributors were lobbyists or prohibited foreign entities.

“Facing a false allegation is an experience that places your family, friends and staff under enormous and cruel pressure. It has resulted in constant abuse and ongoing threats. For me personally, the physical threats of violence, the experience of being spat at and publicly abused for something I didn’t do has been nearly beyond comprehension in a civilised country.

He accused Mr Morrison of tarrying over the last several days as pressure on Christian Porter grew over what Mr Dreyfus said was a contribution of up to $1 million from an unknown benefactor for his legal bills in his defamation battle with the ABC.

Many coffee's shop are doing good with the takeaway with queue all the time, even some just opening. Another five weeks is bad,but it can get far worse? If the federal took it seriously to vaccinated as early possible Coalition gov did not care, its PM main fault, not race, slow it?

Dan the little hitler

Not enough beds in ICU or ventilators for their families would be worse.

People should have considered that before they went about spreading the virus. It is probably time to let the vulnerable who can't be vaccinated stay home and the unvaccinated go free and get sick and die or recover asap. Then we can all go free.

Only the age would print this shit

They should be lobbying the government for better hospitals with greater surge capacity so we can handle a pandemic better.

Dan doesn’t give a f**k about small business. They aren’t his voting base.

Another unbalanced article from The Age. No comment on the people who can’t be treated due to our overwhelmed hospital system. No comment from doctors, nurses, paramedics who work tirelessly to treat so many of us. Just sour grapes from the usual suspects. CovidVic

NSW GOT ALL THE EXTRA VACCINES. Both GPS State & federal. The rest of Australians 18 million got jibbed. Don’t quote NSW vaccination rates when they are based on supply meant for the ENTIRE AUSTRALIAN NOT JUST NSW. Happy to help out a mate but NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF MY FAMILY

Of course they are.

You all need to be vaccinated first come on guys what more do you want more lockdowns

You have exploited the “businesses are angry” mantra to the point where many Victorians see them as parasites who favour their patrons’ money over their patrons’ health. Was that your intention?

Morrison should stop all finance to Vic .

Maybe business had pre-existing conditions and co-morbidities

Of course they were disappointed. They were never going to be happy with anything announced today.

Tell them to pester Morrison and Hunt. They fucked up the vaccine supply. Original plan said we’d be at 80% vaxxed by September 1. I’m sure business gets KPIs which the Feds fucked up. If they were in business they would have been sacked!

Perhaps the “Business Leaders ( 😂) could direct their ire at the PM and his mates. After all, they spectacularly stuffed up the Vax rollout.

Alternative headline: Victoria’s business lobby groups say they are bitterly disappointed at the prospect of more lives being saved.

Victorian lives are more important than there profits

What did they expect? We have to follow the national plan and reopen at 70 and then 80. This will still lead to heaps of hospitalisations and deaths tho sadly.

If a bigger reopening leads to more COVID deaths then so be it. The priority now should be reopening the economy, protecting existing jobs, sending kids back to school, and improving the mental health of everyone

political_alert 5 more weeks to get more if your potential consumers vaccinated instead of ending up dead or in hospital. 🤔

Let’s jus see what happens in NSW…

political_alert I always go to business lobby groups for my health advice in a pandemic! 🤪 COVID19Vic

If media lead people differently, we all now enjoy COVID zero freedom.

Has anyone bothered to raise the question as to where are all the ICU beds he promised back in April 2020?

We don’t care! It’s not our fault ScottyTheAnnouncer gave so much money unnecessarily to Harvey Norman and the like!

If the feds had have seen it as a race, we'd have been able to open up much earlier. Instead we are only now getting the vaccines we need.

This blame sits with the federal government re Vaccines and also NSW Government no-one else VIC has worked so hard and have been let down by lies and deception form Morrison just like France cnnbrk BBCWorld France Morrison is to blame auspol

What does everyone else say? Seek out a range of different voices please or we will all lose our minds.

Businesses should be able to open, especially small business. They need the patronage & sales so would no doubt do everything in their power to check vax passports, keep tabs on numbers allowed etc. Dble vaxed people should be given allowances to help businesses now.

political_alert I know there’s plenty of stupid ppl out there, some read your rag, but who in their right mind is busting to go to the pub, an indoor eating venue, the hairdresser, a cafe, a cinema etc? Business is going to be fckd anyway. It’ll be a whole lot worse if opened up too early.

It is perfectly clear that Andrews and co don’t know what they are doing, they are frozen in fear and can’t make a decision.

Relentless… I don’t like reading these articles but I’m now thinking of unfollowing on Twitter as well. Give it a break

If we always did what businesses wanted on COVID the death toll would be many thousands.

The same business lobby groups that campaign to gut our wages & conditions?

When are they going to realise that sick or scared-of-getting-sick people don't go shopping.

Victoria will be 50% fully vaccinated next weekend, these approx 1 million fully vaccinated have done the right thing and should be allowed 2sqm outdoor dining. Shows VIC govt anti small business? as construction is not shut for the next 5 weeks and they are also not fully vaxxed

Of cause they R .... they wanted NSW, ACT & Vic opened up completely B4 Octr Long W/e 2 get the Xmas consumer feeding frenzy , which would ended up in huge amts of Delta spread inside shops, malls & seafood markets . They R only counting $ & dont give a fk about anything else.

It’s clear now, as from the beginning that he doesn’t want small business… doesn’t care about Victorians, it doesn’t matter to him that people are taking their lives or losing their homes and businesses… it doesn’t matter to him or his gvt that some of us cry ourselves to sleep
