Watch live : Victorian Premier DanAndrewsMP and Health Minister MartinFoleyMP are due to provide a coronavirus update at 11.15am on a day when the state recorded 1935 new cases and 11 deaths COVID19Vic

When Victoria reaches 90 per cent of its eligible population vaccinated, there will be no patron caps on events or hospitality venues, with masks only required in high-risk indoor settings.

Mr Andrews said ultimately, the state will remain a vaccinated economy into 2022 and masks will still be required in certain high-risk indoor settings next year. “There’s a fundamental agreement that we have reached with the Victorian community, we asked you to get vaccinated, you have done that in record time and record numbers,” he said.

“I want to see 80,00 plus people at the Boxing Day test on day one, that’s what I want to see,” Mr Andrews said on Sunday.” Mr Andrews said the “vast majority” of those who would become seriously ill with coronavirus in coming months would be unvaccinated.“If you’re on the fence and haven’t made an appointment yet, please go and do that. It’ll keep you out of hospital and will help us get open quicker.“

Mr Miles also announced there would be pop up vaccinations at surf life-saving clubs across the state. He urged anyone on the public holiday on Friday to get vaccinated.More than 73 per cent of Australia’s eligible population is now fully vaccinated, as the federal government launches a national advertising campaign to encourage the unvaccinated to get the jab by appealing for their desire for freedom.

“I’ll also remind people that if you haven’t started your vaccination course at best case, it’s a six week process to get the full protections of the vaccine … and if you want to be totally protected before Christmas, then you really need to start coming forward now to that first dose to get the whole process done.”
