Bloom wishes her lawyers had worked harder to gather documented evidence of her ex's violence. Maybe hospital records from the time he shoved her into a table and both her lungs collapsed, landing her in intensive care for a week.
"It is absolutely important to examine what's happening in cases of non-lethal violence where women have acted in self-defence," said Danielle Tyson, a senior lecturer in criminology at Deakin University. The reforms, Quigley told the ABC, would also apply"across a wider menu" of domestic violence-related offences than murder, including grievous bodily harm or other serious assaults.
But experts, he said,"will tell you that there are good reasons why women don't leave abusive relationships ... that the most dangerous time is when people leave."
ItaButtrose please please please stop this type of crap.
This article is insane! She broke in and stabbed 2 people but she is the victim? Your framing of this story is disgusting. This is why a lot of people can't stand feminists. They are all for equality except when it comes to accepting accountability for your actions.
There is a long history of sweeping violence against men under the carpet. (In Australian society every month 12 men and 5 women are murdered, while 9 men and 5 women are victims of attempted murder, ABS, Recorded Crime - Victims.)
I love how feminist want us to believe how women are capable and powerful but refuse to apply any accountability to women under any circumstances.
So the Judge was wrong, the police were wrong, the lawyers were wrong, the husband and friend lied, her story beggars belief and she 'can't remember' those bits too difficult to explain. Yet you accept all she says as gospel without question. It's a worry.
The perpetrator was in no immediate danger, went to her former partner's home, and stabbed someone. ABC, Australia needs to chat to you about the gargantuan ideological magnet next to your moral compass. 🧲🧭
A judge is far more likely to look for & see trauma in a woman's past than in a man's GenderEqualityWhenItSuits
The only facts in this story that matter are 'she lunged at his screaming partner, stabbing her in the chest and puncturing her lung, before attacking him' and they are not in dispute. The criminal attacked an innocent and clearly terrified woman, her motivations are irrelevant.
The parallels between this and my own story are terrifying, a jealous, mentally Ill woman with a knife, claiming she was somehow pushed to do something she is solely responsible. Women need to take responsibility for their actions.
. PATHETIC JOURNALISM This case exposes one of the hidden issues in domestic violence - control - the desire of the 'domestic violence victim' to control the perpetrator. Rather than leave a failing relationship they stay, pleed their partner to stay & destroy both their lives.
ItaButtrose when are you going to clamp down on irrational feminist articles like this one?
This article is a great example of everything that is wrong with feminism. Women have agency and they need to be responsible for their actions. She broke into her ex’s home and plunged a knife into his partner. Nothing more needs to be said. Shame on the ABC for publishing this!
So you take her word that she didn’t mean to hurt anyone! You take her word with no evidence that she is a DV victim! Do you realise some women lie! This woman broke into a house and plunged a knife into her ex’s new partner! This is pure, jealousy, vindictiveness and violence.
Nice try ABC her behaviour is not justified in any way whatsoever, you don't break into someones house with a knife without an intent to hurt or at least frighten them. Anita should be feeling lucky she only got 6 years.
