Former Victorian Liberal Party President Michael Kroger says the replacement of Melbourne's traditional fireworks display with a drone show is part of the 'dumbing down' of Australia Day.

Former Victorian Liberal Party President Michael Kroger says the replacement of Melbourne’s traditional fireworks display with a drone show is part of the “dumbing down” of Australia Day.

“This is a very clever way of Andrews dumbing down Australia Day,” Mr Kroger told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “The government here is hard-left as we know, this is part of the whole cancel culture that reverberates around this country and anything they can do to diminish the significance of this great day, they do.

“We have a great democracy in this country, probably best in the world, but if you listen to people on this day, you would think that wasn’t the case.”

I dunno, fireworks on a very hot day after a very hot weeks seems like a bad idea.

KrogerMichael Micheal ...Fireworks are very limited with what you can do with them, after a while they are all the same. Drones can be a lot more spectacular and more imaginative than fireworks.

The liberal party is doing the dumbing down. Lot at the mugs in their party.

News? Why is this former person's opinion needed? Its not wanted.

Cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Do some real reporting Sky News. ThisIsNotJournalism

I see a stranglehold on Aussie freedom. Only limitations allowed.

What a stupid comment by Kroger. Goes to show how the LNP will say anything trite and idiotic to attack the Andrews Government. I bet Kroger's squeeze Janet Albrechtsen now writes up something similar in her crappy column.

The Labor Party Has Forgotten that They Are 'Public Servants' And Are Payed by Taxpayers.. They Have Lost Their Scruples and Are Influenced by Bribes..They Need to Be Booted !!

‘Dumbing down’ is something are experts on.

I didn’t think it could get any dumber but ok.

The economic case for a guaranteed Australia Day long weekendLet’s focus on the economics for just a moment and consider the benefits of making AustraliaDay a floating Friday at the end of January, a long weekend to bookmark the end of summer and return to work. | OPINION by Jess_Irvine Jess_Irvine End of summer is end of February.
