One state’s restaurants and cafes could be lifted out of coronavirus lockdown by next month, with the Premier calling the plan to reopen “ambitious”.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced Queensland’s restaurants, pubs and cafes could reopen as soon as June. Picture: Jono Searle/Getty ImagesRestaurant and Catering Australia chief executive Wes Lambert said he was hoping for a reopening within weeks, with the association proposing guidelines like a register of guests, tables and chairs being cleaned after each patron, disposable menus and disposable cutlery to minimise risk of virus spread.

Australia’s coronavirus outbreak escalated in March, forcing hospitality businesses to shut their doors and significantly reducing customer numbers for those places allowed to continue trading. While restaurants and cafes have, under Federal Government restrictions, been allowed to operate under takeaway conditions, pubs were shut down completely.

Jackie Trad is controlling the state

faster damnit. and there better be no conditions to wear any masks. those are like what the slaves had to endure back in the day. everyone shud fight the gov if they try to force it on us.

Contractions/deaths have been statistically insignificant in my state since before lockdowns were even introduced. Leave us alone, government. There is no moral imperative to lock healthy people in their homes under the dictate that someone might get sick somewhere at some time.

May 15th pretty please!!!!

ACT should be opening now ABarrMLA. This has gone on long enough. Our numbers are negligible.

About bloody time!

Did this ‘rogue’ country get it right on coronavirus containment? They’re images that seem alien these days – people dining out at restaurants, lazing in parks surrounded by others, going to work and dropping their kids at school, or chatting in shops. Note: applied to our larger population this is the equivalent of us having 4000 dead instead of less than 100. That, and until the question of immunity is settled, we don’t know for sure if exposing that many people to the virus has provided any benefit.
