‘Always going to be problems’: Premier defends flaws in trams, ferries | Rabe9

Cracking trams and the troubled ferry system are a reality of running a massive public transport system and Sydney has the safest network in Australia, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has said.

Mr Perrottet said the suspended inner west light rail system, which was put on ice for up to 18 months in October after cracks were discovered in all 12 trams, was evidence the transport system was working how it should.“It shows the system is working, because when there are challenges, what we do is we take the decisions we’ve made and we address them, and that’s what we’re doing,” Mr Perrottet said.

“I have received no information, my understanding is nor has the transport minister, in respect of whether action should have been taken earlier in regard to that matter,” he said.

Rabe9 Isn't it funny how the GC light rail is absolutely flawless and the GC and Brisbane ferries are an absolute joy but Sydney couldn't poor piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel when it comes to ALL of their public transport.

Rabe9 What a cop out. Buy cheap, pay twice. How many times does that fact have to slap politicians in the face?

Rabe9 Maybe if the trams and ferries were made in Australia they would last longer and the quality control may have been better, value adding starts at home. We have the raw materials, the technology, and the skills so where is the government encouragement?

Rabe9 They just can’t bring themselves to pay local shops to make anything cause they know some money will end up in unions pockets .why do you think they got rid of our car industry ?

Rabe9 Huh? There’s a city to the south that has the world’s largest tram network with over 100 yrs service. The fleet is aging but you could say that’s a testament to the quality and durability of the locally built stock.

Rabe9 The problem being, NSW is locked into these shonky business deals done by Gladys, because these deals are such these shonky deals have clauses that require the shonky OS companies to be repairing at outrageous costs. Time to build infrastructure in NSW.

Rabe9 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Rabe9 Rubbish what a reply , labour should use it in adds

Rabe9 Incompetence requires incompetents, and thievery requires thieves, particularly in the Banana Republic of NSW.

Rabe9 Not when it’s brand spanking new! Problems this early only due to going cheap and being made overseas (Asia) instead of being properly MADE IN AUSTRALIA! Time for a change in government!

Rabe9

Rabe9 so now we lower the Lib bar so it's easier to get over until it finally reaches rock bottom

Rabe9 Matches all the apartment tower cracks he also doesn't care about, because Govt in Australia is a kleptocracy

Rabe9 Rubbish. Risk management strategies in place for these multi million dollar projects should have made stuff ups of the type and severity that have occurred, impossible...

Rabe9 Not built with quality and standards right here in Australia... BuyAustralian

Rabe9 Why should a brand new system have any problems?

Rabe9 Made in China or India?
