Two 13-year-old girls are among four teenagers who have been charged by police after two cars were allegedly stolen at knifepoint in Melbourne's south-east.

Detectives arrested the teenagers, who are all from Ballarat, after investigating the two carjacking incidents that occurred in South Yarra and Hawthorn. The first took place on Thursday, September 19, when a vehicle was allegedly stolen from the driver at knifepoint on Williams Street in South Yarra just before 2am.

The group allegedly demanded the 21-year-old driver hand over his keys, then fled in his car, which was later found about 9.45am the same day in Clarinda. Police at the time described the group as all wearing the same outfit: black tracksuits with yellow stripes on the legs and a yellow emblem on the left chest.
