All schools in greater Sydney will start a staggered return from October 25 as the NSW government moves to erase the COVID fault lines dividing the city | AlexSmithSMH

All schools in greater Sydney will start a staggered return from October 25 as the NSW government moves to erase the COVID fault lines dividing the city, which has angered local leaders as well as Liberal MPs in hot spots.

Shopping can be done within local government areas, not just five kilometres from home, and people can attend a small wedding. A person’s singles bubble buddy can live in greater Sydney. The issue of public pools was raised with Ms Berejiklian when she met mayors from the 12 hot spots. They also called for the end to curfews and for consistency of restrictions across all greater Sydney.

“The other option was to have those measures across the whole city or state, when in hindsight we may not have needed to. I can appreciate how people feel like that, but we have just followed the statistics, done what we have needed to do.” Victorian premier Daniel Andrews said national cabinet was told on Friday that there could be issues with the number of Pfizer doses arriving next month.

NSW reported 1083 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, and another 13 deaths – the state’s highest number of deaths in one day so far.
