Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has thrown his support behind establishing an AFL team in Tasmania after a business case was put forward last year.

A business plan released last year to introduce a 19th club revealed that upwards of $715 million would be required, with $240 million of that coming from the Federal Government and private backers.

“I'm very supportive of Tasmania getting an AFL team, but I'm also very cautious about the use of taxpayer dollars and that it's got to go to the most effective form of investment.”

What would he know about AFL. Why add 1 team and create a bye. Need 2 new teams. One from southwest WA would be good

Seems this bloke is only picking things that make him look good instead of fixing the countries desperate need of productivity and and stop relyance of other countries

See people, Albo has a plan, give him time. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Well it's bound to be a failure then.

While yes they should have one, doesn’t AnAl have more important things to worry about?

Looks like they will have scrape players from across to make up the numbers.

Why? Who gives a fck about AFL? focus more on broken promises than frivolous games

Another indication that our Prime Minister’s focus is in the wrong place again.

With who’s money?

It would be good if he would throw his support behind reducing the cost of living crisis in our country.

Who's he think he is, the minister for sport?

WTF would Albanese know about AFL anyway? How about for a change he works towards the betterment of our economy and ALL Australians.

Didn't Ablo just give Gates Tassie?

Just looking for a photo op.

Yep . Well that’s team down in Tassie is F..ked then .

How about throw your support behind fixing Alice Springs!

So? Can he throw his support for new coal fire power stations to be built pls so our power costs can go down then and only then may i think he has Australians best interest at heart otherwise - long walk very short pier pls

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️More men’s netball teams? Spare us.

Well that will help cost of living issues for Australians and First Nations people

Isn’t it for the AFL to decide and worry about why is the prime minister worrying about that when inflation is booming, power prices are rising. Fuel prices are rising, rent prices are rising, and shortages everywhere, food prices are rising and he’s worried about an AFL team.

Albo tacking the big issues. Again

Glad to see the pm taking on the big issues

Just move one of the basket case Melbourne teams to Tas. Not enough talent for a 19th club.

Albo wouldn’t know what AFL is & probably hasn’t heard of Tasmania either … 🤡🤡 world

It would be so cliche if they called themselves the Tassie Devils.

Just like the “voice”, if it doesn’t get the support from the AFL, Albo will just force it through…. distraction

Oh my mistake, I thought Albo was the PM 🤔

The AFL can build a stadium, they are a business after all and why should people pay for stadium that will cost millions a year in upkeep so the AFL can profit at no expense to themselves

Albo knows lots about business cases.

albomp manages all the important issues.

Tassie should have had a team well before Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth,

Albanese enjoys 'warm' discussion with NZ's new prime ministerAnthony Albanese was one of the first people to reach out to Chris Hipkins and congratulate him ahead of being officially sworn in as New Zealand's new prime minister He'll just be another puppet to Washington just like Australia. Another unelected leader and WEF puppet. God help NZ. Sounds even worse than Mrs Ed, from what I've heard on him discussing 'rounding up unvaxxed'. I'm sure the UN have interviewed their new puppet well.
