Opposition leader Anthony Albanese has described Bill Shorten's decision to take a 45 per cent emission reduction target to last year's election as a “mistake”.

Opposition leader Anthony Albanese has revealed details for the first time about the direction he will take Labor's emissions reduction target in. Amid ongoing scrutiny about Australia's climate change policies during the deadly bushfire crisis, Mr Albanese has described Bill Shorten's decision to take a 45 per cent emission reduction target to last year's election as a “mistake”.

Speaking exclusively with Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell, the Labor leader has given his strongest indication yet that a 45 per cent reduction by 2030 wouldn't be feasible due to the Coalition's length in government. The major interview reveals voters should not expect Labor's exact target anytime soon, with Mr Albanese suggesting the timeframe for his emissions policy would likely extend beyond 2030.

As though they won’t make the same “mistake” again lol. The far-Left lunatics dictate leftist policy in Western nations right now. Once they oust the Socialist scum from their parties they might stand a chance of winning again....

Sky news Liars

Separating from his wife seems to be having a positive effect on his thinking processes.

Would Albo have us believe that he had no input into Labor's policy platform? Seriously this bloke is proving to be slimier than Shorten. Meanwhile Shorten is sicking back quietly sharpening the knives.

Your network's decision to back a pack of criminal muppets was a mistake.

No he did not

That's not what he said. Get your facts right. Are you journalists or mouthpieces for the conservatives and their funders?

We know We know! Get over it and move on ( or back) to your labour base and forget The Needy Greedy Greens !

labor_trash Who would have thought that publicly announcing such an impossible goal would make you look stupid

Breaking news, any Labor politics who talks to any Murdoch outlets is making a mistake.

Albo is just another ALP mistake!

Stating the obvious.

Labor is a mistake...

People are not going to vote for a group that wants to support coal after the air quality issues and also emissions coming from construction. Drier climates are not okay.

The ALP is a mistake

labor_trash auspol Arse & his elbow...

Why does no one ever talk about China, India etc? I would of thought Gretta Thornbug would be having proper meltdowns steps of parliament in Beijing?

It is strange that Albo gave the interview to Sky. I wonder if this is the ALP's new direction?

I suppose we do not need to know until the next election. Maybe now the call for the LNP to do more on CC & go against their election promise will be quite until the next election. Maybe now some can stop calling the LNP denialists, they are taken action but yes it is minimal.

Labor's obsession with Climate Change after the voters have rejected it for years is astounding.

Yes, it should have been 100. AlboMP is making all the wrong choices. GreenNewDeal JobGuarantee

Really well where is the footage ?

Funny how he's Labor Left but Shorten is Labor Right.

Sometimes, realitybites can be too much

Good to see all your fake followers are in full force this morning. Makes them easier to report.

Twisting his words as usual. How about provide AlboMP's full statement so your 'viewers' can see the false narrative you are driving. thisisnotjournalism

Oh there were so many mistakes

You're still attacking Bill Shorten ? He's not the ALP leader. You may have missed that memo'.

Well that’s sensible because with emissions increasing and the window getting smaller it’s going to be harder to get their. At the last election we had 11 years at the next election it will be 8

Yeah it should have been 50%

Bull shit! None of Labor policies are yet decided!

Meanwhile the world needs to get to zero emissions, minus the accounting tricks

We should be aiming for 50!

In this thread: rusted on LNP voters frothing at the mouth for any hint of infighting at the ALP. Careful, Dutton might get some ideas

Nice early morning deflection... hey, who cares. That’s the past right? LNP in government.. let’s talk about them.

Crying about mumzy and wearing that chloe shortens husband tshirt we’re bigger errors.

How many other mistakes did Labor make?

Why retweet sky news bullshit - arent we making an effort here not to support this one sided media?

Sky headline deliberately misleading (of course) . Better: 'Coalition inaction over many years threatens efforts to save the planet.'

ThisisNotJournalism

Anthony is from the ALP left faction, he really thinks it should have been 100%

Who cares? The quiet Australians want to know what the government intends to do after 8 years of inaction

you're twisting his words, as usual

billshortenmp how many policy mistakes did Bill Shorty take? AustralianLabor

I can’t see any climate change all garbage

Only reporting on this because of Murdoch wanted it on trying to further damage the ALP and we all know that Murdoch hates the ALP and all who are in it and support it, which means that he hates the working person.

Is this really the top news story of the moment! Did you take the call from the Morrison's LNP hotline to Sky News to try and create a distraction from the HOT story of Brazen Bridget's $100 million pork barreling scandal!

Should have been a target to transition to zero.

You don’t need a target. Just do sensible things such as reducing pollution, recycling, reusable plastic containers, conserving energy, more efficient energy use, tree planting, carbon entrapment practices and more public spaces. The emissions take care of themselves.

AlboMP if jacindaardern can aim for zero why can’t we?!. Climate change was an important issue for some based on the questions I had on polling day.

Take all your ideas on climate change to China. THAT's where the ideas are needed.

I only watch Sky news to get angry & keep up to date with the fake news narrative.

Understatement

Stupidity, not a mistake. Labor needs to drop the climate disaster mantra. auspol

Because it wasn’t high enough?

Here we go these two will never get past it! How long will Albo last.....?

There I was thinking taking Bill Shorten to the last election was the mistake.

Code speak for....'we will tell you about our unpopular policies after we get elected'.

Nobody believes Murdoch media.

And yet, Shorten is still there, Shadow Min for NDIS. Still making decisions.

Delusional ideology of a 17 yo, playing to children who are not of voting age or pay tax.Albo didn’t believe in anything that Labor put up & was happy to pretend at the last election.

Voters of Australia have described the whole Labor party as a mistake ..the vote said so 😂

In fighting continues

Should be zero.

Ya think? Caving in to the hysterical for popular votes was never going to pass the pub test. Also we learnt for sure that polls mean sweet FA and will continue to do so.

No shit Sherlock blind Freddy saw that one coming
