'Workers only just got PPE. Not before COVID spread at the facility.' 9News

Today obtained call logs made to the Health Workers Union yesterday which revealed staff at St Basil's Home for the Aged Care in Fawkner, in Melbourne's north, raised serious concerns about the management of the facility.

One memo read: "Reporting that a resident was taken to hospital last week. Before that, he was coughing and sneezing all over the place. Infecting staff and others. He was not isolated."St Basil's Home for the Aged in Fawkner. Another allegation from a St Basil's worker stated: "Management gave us full protective equipment this week. Even as of Sunday, after they knew COVID was an issue, masks and gloves weren't taken seriously. It was up to workers… It wasn't enforced."

There was a similar complaint from another worker at the centre, with the call log reading: "Worker was sent home today . She was shocked and stressed at just how quickly the virus spread. She's anxious about going back to work. Workers only just got PPE. Not before COVID spread at the facility."Another raised concerns about the lack of communication: "She only found out about COVID at St Basil's from the news.

The number of cases at St Basil's quadrupled in one day with the cluster climbing to 69.
